In the leadup to Mother’s Day (May 8, everybody!), Burger King Germany has developed special Whoppers tied to a campaign explaining pregnancy cravings.
According to the brand, 58% of the 1,070 women surveyed said they experienced these cravings, with 76% of them saying they were impossible to resist. As such, the fast-food chain has introduced some interesting burger combinations for expectant mothers so they can indulge this holiday weekend.

Even though the flavors may seem rather strange to most people, they are in fact based on the most popular suggestions offered in the survey. We’re talking cucumber and jam, fish sticks and applesauce, and curry sausage and fried herring. Yum?
The humorous campaign, produced by advertising agency Grabarz & Partner, features pregnant women discussing their odd cravings with their partners and children. It will be aired on the company’s social media channels and out-of-home platforms.

As Klaus Schmäing, Director of Marketing at Burger King Germany, puts it, it clearly seems pregnancy cravings aren’t just a myth, but are real desires “for special food combinations.”
