What do you need to make Fish Clothespin Craft?

You’ll need our printable template, some clothespin, glue, scissors and toothpicks to hold the little fish. I bet you have most of the materials at home which makes this fish craft super easy to make in minutes!

What are the different ways to play with this Ocean Craft?

Beyond chomping away at the little fish you can do lots fun things with your clothespin craft! Here are some ideas:

  1. Aquarium Adventure: Set up a shoebox or larger box as a homemade aquarium. Children can paint the interior blue and decorate it with cut-out seaweed, coral, and other ocean elements. Then, let your clothespin fish swim around this creative ocean habitat.
  2. Underwater Puppet Show: Attach a string to your fish crafts and put on a puppet show! You can even create a storyline involving a school of fish, their underwater journey, or their adventures in the ocean.
  3. Fridge Fishing: Attach small magnets to the back of your clothespin fish and let them swim on your fridge! Kids can have fun rearranging their fish friends, creating different scenes, and it serves as a fantastic display for their creativity.
  4. Fishing Game: Print only the fish without the clothespin. Make a simple fishing rod with a stick, a string, and a small magnet at the end. Then, attach a small metal piece or paper clip to your fish, and voila – you have a homemade fishing game! This is a great activity for fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  5. Educational Game: Use these fish to teach children about different types of fish or the ocean’s ecology. Each clothespin fish could represent a different species. This can be a fun and engaging way to introduce marine biology to your little ones.
  6. Storytelling: Each fish could be a character in a unique story. Encourage your kids to give each fish a name, personality, and embark on storytelling adventures.
