Multiple reports suggest a 10-year-old fisherman snagged the near record lake trout, then released it

A 10-year-old angler recently caught a fish that nearly broke a state record for Utah, leading to his post immediately going viral and catching national attention.

What happened:

• Tyler Grimshaw — a 10-year-old from Utah — snagged a 41-pound lake trout out of the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, according to The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
• Utah DWR said: “Ten-year-old Tyler Grimshaw recently caught this 41-pound lake trout at #FlamingGorge — caught and released by him self. Happy #FishFriday!”
• The photos below show young Grimshaw sitting on a boat with the massive fish in his hands.

• According to Fox 8, the area is common for anglers since there’s a large amount of trout in the area.
• The Utah state record is 51 pounds, 8 ounces, according to Fox 8.
• Fox News said: “While the catch isn’t quite a record, it’s still an impressive feat for Grimshaw. When it comes to fishing, however, records are still being set all the time.”
